November 9, 2015
7/10
Though not the funniest installment, the third film in The Naked Gun franchise is still entertaining, though the jokes were starting to get repetitive. Leslie Nielsen remains in top form as the now retired Lt. Drebin, who is finding it difficult to cope with civilian life. The supporting cast (Priscilla Presley, George Kennedy, and O.J. Simpson) are still doing a great job of backing up Nielsen, with all of them actually getting more time to shine in this one.

Fred Ward plays the main villain Rocco Dillon, a bomber who targets the Oscars. Alongside him is Anna Nicole Smith as Tanya and Kathleen Freeman as Rocco's mom. The villainous trio aren't terrible villains, though they aren't nearly as memorable as Vincent Ludwig and Quentin Hapsburg. Most of the jokes come from Drebin's inability to give up the police force, which is funny for a while but by the middle of the film, it starts to get repetitive, as I said.

With a lot less memorable quotes and scenes, the third Naked Gun film is funny but not great. It's a decent send-off for a great comedic ensemble, but I would definitely watch the first two before I'd choose this one. Still, having said that, it's not terrible but it isn't a masterpiece either. It relies far too much on sexual humor and isn't as slapstick heavy. In a franchise that's built on slapstick, it feels a little cheap to try to appeal to a new audience.
