The Naked Gun 2 1/2 is definitely a worthy successor to the first film. Leslie Nielsen continues to own the role of Lieutenant Frank Drebin, providing some of the best one-liners in movie history. George Kennedy and O.J. Simpson also stepped up their game for this sequel, giving us a well-rounded cast of hilarious characters that kept me laughing from beginning to end.

It's interesting how the plot advocates for renewable energy, and makes gas, coal, and nuclear companies look like the villains. It's rare that slapstick movies have a solid message, but this one was pretty obvious. The main villain is businessman Quentin Hapsburg, played by a constantly confused Robert Goulet. His back-and-forth with Nielsen makes for some hilariously memorable moments.

This sequel absolutely lives up to the hilarity of the first film and improves on it to help cement The Naked Gun franchise's place in comedy history. I still think the Zuckers are the kings of 80's slapstick and their continuation into the 90's proved they were going to be around for a while. I wish comedy films these days would take some notes from films like this, simply to go back to a time when being goofy was worth some yucks.
