Kick-Ass 2 (2013)Written and Directed by Jeff Wadlow
Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jim Carrey, Clark Duke, Donald Faison, Lindy Booth, Sequel to 2010's Kick-Ass Based on characters from Icon Comics |
I had heard this sequel wasn't up to snuff, but I really enjoyed it for the most part. The various superheroes and villains were very funny, cool, and crazy characters that added to the campy atmosphere of the film. Jim Carrey was hysterical as Colonel Stars and Stripes, the leader of Justice Forever. However, I didn't like how the film just glossed over Dave's relationship with Katie, which was such an important part of the first one. Still, it's a very fun, crazy movie that will make you want to jump into a pair of tights and patrol the streets.

While this film didn't quite match the brilliance of the first one, it was still a fun time. The plot was pretty good and introduced a whole zany cast of characters, both on the superhero side and the villain side. Christopher Mintz-Plasse was even better in this film, really going all out and clearly having a ball. Jim Carrey was a welcome addition to the cast, being a great leader character while still providing laughs along the way.
The ending fight scene is one of the greatest all out brawls I've seen in a film. This is a film that seemed to be unfairly judged when it initially came out. Hopefully, people will love what the film provides; a fun, crazy good time that will have you waiting impatiently for a third film. |
