This film was highly disturbing and realistic, with a solid cast of character actors to back it up. Would You Rather captures the intensity and sadism of the rich, where the means to buy the thrill causes the risk to climb up and up until your life is at stake.
The film owes a lot to the Saw franchise, in terms of how far one would go to save their own life or the life of a loved one. The players all did a fantastic job of portraying eight frightened but ambitious men and women but the movie itself belongs to Jeffrey Combs. His role as twisted aristocrat Shepard Lambrick will no doubt go down as one of the best horror movie villains of the decade. Every bit of dialogue he delivers is layered with bulls**t empathy and sadistic thrill. I couldn't wait to hear what he was gonna say next.
Would You Rather is a good watch for horror aficionados, even if the end is painfully predictable. Still, the journey is enticing and each round of the dreadful game gets more and more excruciating. I would definitely say this film is worth your time.
