For those of you who've read my review of Primer, this film and I have the same problem I had with that film. It just doesn't speak to people outside of lovers of the genre. Upstream Color is, however, more easy to follow than Primer, providing more character development and a slightly more coherent plot. For that, it gets bonus points.
