I have loved Toy Story since I was a child. It has been one of my favorites movies for as long as I can remember and, in my opinion, is Pixar's greatest film. While the sequels are also great films, nothing comes close to the nostalgic humor and fun of the original Toy Story. For those who haven't seen it, if they even exist, definitely watch this. It will show you why Pixar is responsible for so many awesome childhoods.
Woody (Hanks) is a cowboy doll who sort of leads the gang in Andy's room. He's Andy's favorite toy, at least until hotshot space toy Buzz Lightyear (Allen) arrives and usurps Woody's position. Now, Woody becomes bitter, jealous, and tries to rid himself of Buzz for good. But circumstances force Woody and Buzz to work together to make their way back to Andy's house after they end up lost. So many iconic moments make this film one of my absolute favorites. From Pizza Planet to Sid's house to the moving van, it's all hilarious and fantastic. Surprisingly, the animation still holds up after twenty-six years. I mean, you can see the gradual progression of Pixar's increasingly stellar animation over the course of all four Toy Story films, but there's something special about the first film. It set the bar for what Pixar was capable of doing with the medium, and they've made dozens of incredible films since. But it all started with Toy Story, one of the greatest animated films of all time. |
One of the greatest animated films of all time. The movie tells a great story with themes that will resonate with both kids and adults. A movie that was both a major part of my childhood and proved the power of Pixar animation. The voice cast is excellent throughout, creating very memorable characters. A movie that will continue to stand the test of time and put a smile on any kid's face that watches it.
