Even though I know they're going to be weird, I always look forward to a Rob Zombie film. This one, however, was hard to follow and confusing. The performances were solid, and the ending was very Zombie-esque, but the film itself felt like it could have been so much more. I was pretty disappointed with this one.

I'm a big fan of Rob Zombie and this is, by far, his weirdest movie I've seen of his to date. The plot is fairly engaging and tells a pretty cool story. The witch plot was a very good idea because it hasn't been done a lot in recent years and is quite creepy. The atmosphere also adds to the creep factor, which is incredibly thick throughout.
The cinematography is also absolutely gorgeous, which surprised me with this being a horror film. While a lot of people complain about Sheri Moon Zombie, I liked her in the lead role and thought she did a good job. This was a different film for Rob Zombie, and while it's not one of my all time favorites of his, I still enjoyed it quite a bit. |
