It is a testament to Sam Raimi that The Evil Dead still holds up to this day. The scares still seem real and it remains one of the most graphic horror films ever made. While Bruce Campbell is not yet the badass Ash that we know and love, it is refreshing to see him scared out of his freakin' mind and clueless. While I still prefer the funnier sequels, this film will definitely stand the test of time.

This is by far the greatest example of how to make a movie with no budget and still be an effective piece of entertainment. The film still stands as very creepy and disturbing horror film. While it does suffer from some poor acting, it is still a hell of a time. While a lot of people prefer the funnier sequels, this is still the best one and most unrelenting. It is both a great horror film and a great start to one of the more consistent horror franchise.
