The Crow is a perfect example of how atmosphere can affect an entire film from beginning to end. The world surrounding the film is almost like a character in itself, a living breathing entity that drives its inhabitants to commit heinous crimes. Brandon Lee stars in this bizarre but highly entertaining action film that proves he had the power to become a star, had he not been tragically killed during the film's production.

Lee's role as Eric Draven, the vengeful guardian sent from the afterlife to avenge his killers, is the reason this film has become such an underground cult hit. He does a great job showing Draven's tortured soul and the pain he is always suffering as he hunts down the men who raped and killed the woman he loved. Character actor Michael Wincott plays the main villain, Top Dollar, who is a great movie gangster and foil for Draven. It's also strange to see Ernie Hudson in a non-Ghostbusters role, but he fits in to this world nicely.

The Crow is a great action thriller that is character driven and exciting to watch. It builds Eric Draven into the ultimate antihero before turning him full-circle into a hero, making me wish that a decent sequel had had the chance to be done. Brandon Lee lives on through this film, which he absolutely deserves recognition for.
