Ryan Reynolds has made a very successful living playing Van Wilder for the past twenty years, but he's so damn good at it that we all collectively just go with it. The Adam Project is the latest form of his reliable shtick, complete with time travel, memorable action scenes, and a hilarious debut from Walker Scobell. Netflix is definitely focusing more on quality over quantity this year so far, and hopefully they continue this trend of entertaining genre films.

Adam (Reynolds) is a pilot from 2050, who steals a time-traveling jet and goes back to 2022, where he runs into his twelve-year-old self (Scobell) around the time his dad died. Young Adam helps his older self find his wife (Saldana) who vanished in the past. Once they realize the stakes of what's happening, they time travel even further to convince their dad (Ruffalo) to help them destroy the time travel he created. It's a really fun adventure that is further aided by the hilarious chemistry among Reynolds, Scobell, and Ruffalo.

The Adam Project is an exciting film with elements of classic Spielberg and a hefty amount of surprising drama. At times, it's a moving story about grief and how important it is to try and move on. It's definitely a good watch for the whole family.
