Tim Burton did a phenomenal job with Sleepy Hollow, giving it the attention and care he rarely did again after the 90's. With a cast loaded with classic actors and Burton favorites, it's not hard to see why this film achieved cult status. The casting of Christopher Walken as the Headless Horseman was brilliant, even though he doesn't say a single word throughout the entire film. He gives the Horseman an air of sophistication and ruthlessness we've never seen before.
Building the film around the idea of a murder conspiracy was a fantastic approach that grounded Sleepy Hollow and gave it a sense of realism. I definitely enjoy this film and would consider it a great start to the Halloween season. |
