This Japanese horror classic was a little slow at first, but scared the bejesus out of me with the last 20 minutes or so. I greatly respect the Japanese for not pulling their punches with their films. Their horror films are a million times scarier than anything coming out of the U.S. For example, the scene where the girl crawls out of the TV terrified me in this one, but didn't even faze me when I watched The Ring. For that, this film is really creepy.

A solid Japanese horror film with a good story and some great scares. The film did a good job of setting up a simple story at first, and slowly revealing more and more of the mystery as the story progresses. While it did have a slow pace at the beginning, it ended up paying off later when the scares started to increase towards the end. The best part of this slow buildup was when the girl crawls out of the television, which proved to be terrifying. A classic in Japanese horror film cinema.
