Recasting the MCU: Part 7

Welcome to part 7 of the MCU Recast! We are a little over halfway through now but we still have some big time characters yet to get their recast. Here at Filmgazm, we will never forget Chadwick Boseman and this segment of the recast, just like every segment is dedicated to him.

5.) Rashida Jones as Hope van Dyne/Wasp

Portrayed by Evangeline Lilly in the MCU.

Lilly has quietly been a part of Lost, The Hobbit, and Marvel. Talk about some major IP, holy hell. She’s a quality actress who is 41 years old, so I’m going to take another woman in her 40’s named Rashida Jones. Jones has dabbled in all kinds of shit like Lilly, but nothing as big as the MCU. I’d like to see her on that sort of a stage one day and who better than Paul Rudd’s partner Hope van Dyne.

4.) Triple H as Drax

Portrayed by Dave Bautista in the MCU.

We got to swap Bautista with another wrestler from his era. I chose Triple H, because he is the exact same age as Bautista and seems like a pretty cool dude. The comedic timing is huge for Drax just like the stature which Triple H has covered. So, in this hypothetical MCU, Adam Driver is Star-Lord and Triple H is Drax. Fuck yeah.

3.) Vera Farmiga as Pepper Potts

Portrayed by Gwyneth Paltrow in the MCU.

I believe that Vera Farmiga is truly underrated and under-appreciated, so she’s taking Paltrow’s spot as Pepper Potts. I want people to see her greatness front and center. I think Farmiga contains a lot of similar subtle qualities that Paltrow has and is just a year younger. They both grew up on the east coast and I’m now even more excited to pick a new Tony Stark when he comes up in this recast.

2.) Michael Fassbender as Clint Barton/Hawkeye

Portrayed by Jeremy Renner in the MCU.

I don’t think Jeremy Renner had too much of a reason to care about the quality of Hawkeye’s plot lines within the MCU. We need a completely different kind of beast that demands much better writing and that’s Michael Fassbender. He played a wonderful Magneto and now he can serve his proper MCU time as a hero. Fass would make those heat check Hawkeye moments even better and he may be six years younger than Renner but he has the ability to pull off any age.

1.) Robert Pattinson as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier

Portrayed by Sebastian Stan in the MCU.

I think we’ll take Robert Pattinson off the board now. He’s four years younger than Sebastian but clearly has the ability to do anything in front of the camera. The Batman might keep getting delayed, but Robert is our new Bucky and that would mean that he and Gosling would get some bromance screen time and that makes me happy.
