Pineapple Express is an odd film that is highly enjoyable. It's the first outing for Seth Rogen and James Franco and proved that with their great chemistry, a hilarious movie can be made.
The best part of this movie is the supporting cast. The likes of Gary Cole, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson make this film laugh-out-loud funny. Pretty much every line these guys say is gold, with Craig Robinson standing out among the rest. His possibly gay, always hotheaded gangster easily stole the show. While I think Rogen and Franco's other two films are better, Pineapple Express is still a solid comedy. Stoner comedies aren't always very good, but this one was a definite hit. |
This was the first time that James Franco and Seth Rogen teamed up together for a comedic film. Luckily, it was a hit. They have an amazing amount of chemistry and play off each other quite well. I look forward to any future movies they do together.
The film is filled with tons of great jokes and one liners. The whole cast does a great job in their roles. Danny McBride is hysterical as Red, the middle man and Saul's best friend. Gary Cole is also great as the mob boss going to war with the Asians. Craig Robinson and Kevin Corrigan were hilarious as the two henchmen going after the main characters. James Franco and Seth Rogen proved for the first time they are a great, and hilarious, team. Pineapple Express still stands as my favorite of the films they've done together. It's hilarious and something fans of stoner comedies will definitely enjoy. |
