Orgazmo is one of those rare mainstream NC-17 movies that you just keep hearing about, especially after South Park turned Trey Parker and Matt Stone into TV superstars. After finally watching it, I can say it doesn't really need to be NC-17. There's barely any nudity, and it could've easily gotten away with an R. I think censors just flinched when they found out it was about porn, but then again Boogie Nights came out the same year and got an R. But I digress. Orgazmo is a strange movie, and worth a laugh or two simply because of Trey Parker's performance as a naive young Mormon who agrees to do porn for money.

Parker plays Joe Young, a Mormon missionary living in Los Angeles to spread the good word about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. When he knocks on the door of a porn set, seedy filmmaker Maxxx Orbison (Jacobs) sees an opportunity and gives Joe twenty grand to star in his new porn flick as the superhero Orgazmo. Joe is drawn into the underbelly of L.A. as the film becomes a surprise hit, but when his girlfriend Lisa (Raab) arrives and finds out what he's really been doing, all hell breaks loose, and Joe is forced to become Orgazmo for real to save her. It's a bonkers movie with a ridiculous plot that would definitely be at home in an episode of South Park.

I was surprised at how shitty this movie wasn't. I thought it was gonna be a complete train wreck, but it's got its moments. You can tell the cast is having fun just making this weird as hell movie, and the final product is a cult comedy that is bound to find a new audience now that it's available to stream on Netflix.
