Night at the Museum is a fun family-film that actually has an original premise and doesn't take itself too seriously. Despite lukewarm reviews, the film is pretty good, sporting a solid cast of comedy all-stars and one of Ben Stiller's more likable roles.
The performances are all great, particularly Robin Williams as Teddy Roosevelt and Dick Van Dyke in a rare villainous role. I also highly enjoyed Owen Wilson and Steve Coogan as warring miniatures, a gimmick that was funny in this film but just became stupider in the sequels. Regardless, it's the cast that makes this film worth watching. Night at the Museum is an exciting, fantastical family film that will reinvigorate children's interest in history while making them laugh in the process. Though it doesn't break any new ground, it's still good for a laugh or two. |
