The Mission Impossible franchise has come a long way from a lukewarm action thriller based on an old television show. Rogue Nation is an immensely entertaining film that has blown all expectations out of the water and proved yet again that Tom Cruise isn't going anywhere. Even if you are not a huge fan, a grin will find its way onto your face once that iconic theme kicks in.

The stunts in this film are insane, with Cruise himself performing some of the craziest ones. While the opening scene of Cruise holding onto the side of a plane while it's taking off is exciting, it is nothing compared to the high speed motorcycle chase about halfway in. At those speeds, the smallest miscalculation would have been catastrophic, but the end result is exciting and thrilling. Then, of course, there's the underwater infiltration scene that is equal parts intense and intriguing. While I doubt that Cruise held his breath for that long, the scene remains exhilarating.

I think it's safe to say that the Mission Impossible franchise finally has a great ensemble, with Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and hopefully Alec Baldwin. I didn't think I would like this film, but I look forward to future installments. Rogue Nation is arguably the best film in the franchise.
