Men in Black II (2002)Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld
Written by Robert Gordon and Barry Fanaro Starring Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Rip Torn, Rosario Dawson, Lara Flynn Boyle, Johnny Knoxville, Tony Shalhoub, David Cross Sequel to 1997's Men in Black Based on characters from Malibu Comics |
I thought this sequel had the spirit of the first one, but was disappointing overall. Lara Flynn Boyle's villain was bland and Johnny Knoxville's character was aggravatingly annoying. The only saving grace of this film was the unbroken chemistry between Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. They haven't missed a step.
After the awesome first film, it was admittedly hard to top, but this didn't even come close. There was way too much screen time devoted to the worm creatures, which upped the annoying factor. If they'd devoted more time to character development and spent more time creating a memorable villain, this could have been a great sequel. |
