I love Frank Oz's Little Shop of Horrors. It's a great blend of musical, sci-fi, romance, comedy, and even horror in certain scenes (mostly whenever Audrey II is eating). Levi Stubbs provides the iconic voice of the plant himself, giving a very charismatic performance filled with terror and comedic talent.
The best character in this film is without a doubt, Steve Martin's psychotic dentist Orin Scrivello, D.D.S., who has one of the catchiest tunes in the film and is a great side-villain until we meet the monster. For a film that was based on a musical that was based on a Corman film, Little Shop of Horrors is very entertaining and a giant cult hit. |
