Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014)Directed by Kenneth Branagh
Written by Adam Cozad and David Koepp Starring Chris Pine, Kevin Costner, Keira Knightley, Kenneth Branagh Sequel to 2002's The Sum of All Fears Based on characters created by Tom Clancy |
This action thriller was exciting and filled with great performances. I really enjoyed it, especially Kenneth Branagh's evil Russian businessman. It did drag at times, but it more than made up for it with an action-filled climax. Having never seen any of the other Jack Ryan movies, I didn't know what to expect with this one. I was pleasantly surprised.

I will admit that I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. It was a solid entry, and a pretty good reboot, in the Jack Ryan series. The story was quite engaging, with lots of mystery and some excellent action scenes. The film did take a little while to start, but it payed off in the end.
The performances were great throughout. Chris Pine was a great Jack Ryan, fully embodying the character. Kenneth Branagh was excellent as the villain. Kevin Costner quite surprised me with a fantastic turn as Jack Ryan's mentor. A solid reboot of the Jack Ryan series that will hopefully bring us more adventures in the future. |
