iZombie has quickly turned into one of the most quirky, witty, and underrated shows to premiere this year. It features a great cast of characters, intriguing storyline, and plenty of humor. If you haven't had a chance to check this show out yet, I encourage you to fix that as soon as possible.
Rose McIver is excellent in the lead role as Liv Moore, a zombie who inherits the traits of the person whom's brains she eats. She showcases an excellent range of acting, never once missing a beat. Robert Buckley, who plays Major, is a lot of fun to watch as his character goes through quite the arc in the span of one season. He fully commits and, in turn, creates one of the most compelling story arcs of the season. David Anders lights up the screen as the series villain, Blaine. He dominates every scene he's in and brings a considerable amount of charm to his, otherwise, evil character. Credit has to be given to the entire cast for their considerable amount of chemistry they share. Whereas some shows take a while for the characters to fully gel, the cast pulls this off in a couple of episodes.
The show also has a very unique tone compared to other zombie shows like The Walking Dead. iZombie takes a more lighthearted approach, incorporating plenty of witty humor and a quirky tone. While zombies are still a threat, they are also taken in a more matter of fact way. This really helps set this show apart from the other zombie properties.
iZombie turned out be a surprise hit this season. It delivers a unique take on the zombie genre that takes itself less seriously and approaches zombies in a more normal way. A definite winner that looks to be only getting better.
