Inglourious Basterds is yet another masterwork from Quentin Tarantino. This WWII drama features one of the best villains in modern cinema with Christoph Waltz's fantastically devious performance of SS Colonel Hans Landa, a role that won him his first Oscar. While Waltz owns every scene he's in, Brad Pitt did a fantastic job as well as Lt. Aldo Raine, the Tennessee-born leader of the Basterds.

Tarantino worked on this script for nigh on a decade and his attention to detail really shows. He perfectly recreates Nazi-occupied France in 1944 and gives us an almost fairy tale-like rewrite of history. Of all of his films, it was really this one that should have taken home Best Picture.
