Gone Girl was a phenomenal film that was actually surprisingly disturbing. The story is extremely well written and contains so many unbelievable twists and turns, making your feelings towards certain characters change drastically throughout the film. Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike were incredible in the lead roles, giving believable performances as a couple with a rocky marriage that just gets worse and worse. David Fincher proves yet again that he is one of the modern masters of suspense and has scored another hit with this incredible and engaging thriller.

David Fincher scores another hit with his adaptation of the best selling novel Gone Girl. A tale featuring unreliable narratives with the audience trying to figure out what happened to Amy, this is a riveting story with tons of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. For the sake of not spoiling anything, I will try to keep my review short and sweet. This is a movie best left for you to watch not knowing much about it.
One thing I would like to talk about, without spoiling anything, is the absolute top notch performances from the entire cast. Ben Affleck was excellent as the husband who may or may not have killed his wife. Rosamund Pike steals the scene, though, as the missing Amy. Both gave great performances of a couple who's marriage is slowly falling apart. Tyler Perry, who gave a terrible performance in Alex Cross, does the complete opposite here. He really surprised me and I hope he continues to improve. Neil Patrick Harris went out of his comfort zone and gave an excellently creepy performance. Gone Girl is another one of Fincher's best and shows why he's a master at suspense. He delivers a movie that constantly gives the viewer a new piece information in regards to Amy's mysterious disappearance and the couples deteriorating marriage. Mix that with a cast that all deliver incredible performances and this is one of the best films of the year. |
