Yet another of my favorite movies. Ghostbusters is a geek staple and a classic, filled with quotable and memorable moments that are still laugh-out-loud funny to this day. Coupled with Ray Parker Jr.'s catchy as hell theme song, the Ghostbusters are a force to be reckoned with and will remain so forever. However, now I'll feel a tinge of sadness whenever I watch this film, due to Harold Ramis's passing. I like to think he's out there somewhere, waiting for his fellow Ghostbusters to find him.

I remember being a kid and seeing Ghostbusters for the first time and really enjoying it. I also remember really liking the cartoon series based off the two movies. It has been a while since I've see these films, so my memory was a little rough. Having just watched the first one recently, I can happily say that I still highly enjoyed this movie. It works as both a comedy and a horror film, with a cast fully committed to the material. A staple in geek fandom for good reason.
The movie does a wonderful job of mixing in the comedy elements with a tinge of horror, as well. So for any horror fans with kids, this is a great film to get them in to the genre at a younger age. The cast is outstanding, all playing off each other incredibly well. Bill Murray steals the show as Peter Venkman, bringing his signature deadpan humor to the character. Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis are also hilarious in their roles. And can't forget about Rick Moranis, who is hysterical as Louis Tully. Along with the lovable characters and endless suitable dialogue, the theme song has also gone down in the history books. It's extremely catchy and not easily forgotten. Ghostbusters is a hysterical, fun movie that the whole family will enjoy for years to come. It has gone on to be considered a classic and for good reason. If there is a ghost problem in your life, just remember: Who you gonna call? |
