Get Shorty (1995)
Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld

Based on the novel by Elmore Leonard
Get Shorty was a charming, quirky mob film with an A-Plus cast that will make you smile. It's a strange film, what with the plot being virtually intangible but the delightful characters more than make up for it.
John Travolta leads this cast with a solid performance as Chili Palmer, the gangster who always looks irritated. He owns the movie and makes it worth watching. I also highly enjoyed Dennis Farina as the a**hole villain, who makes you hate him with every line.
I'm not entirely sure why the film is called Get Shorty, but it doesn't really matter. You'll get lost in the bizarre story and by the end, you'll understand why Elmore Leonard had such a loyal fanbase.
