There's something about British humor that always gets me. It's just so dry and sarcastic, and always at the expense of someone being stupid. Extra Ordinary is driven by that sense of humor, and it's a hilariously original and enjoyable ghost movie. With a cast of lesser knowns that should be better known, and Will Forte as a weirdo Satan-worshipping, one-hit wonder rock star, this film is one of the best hidden gems of this extremely limited year.

Rose Dooley (Higgins) is a driving instructor and former psychic who can communicate with ghosts. She gave up her talents after she accidentally killed her father, but when the charming and widowed Martin Martin (Ward) begs for her help when his daughter starts floating, she gets back on the bike. What she doesn't know is that Martin's daughter has been chosen as a virgin sacrifice by the evil Christian Winter (Forte) so he can make a deal with the devil to be a superstar again. The adventure is weird, the dialogue is hilarious, and the plot is just bizarre. It's everything you want from a horror comedy.

Extra Ordinary didn't really have a chance at being successful. It debuted in very few theaters before the virus hit, and then it disappeared. So I don't think a lot of people knew about this one. Now that October is here, I say this is a great one for Halloween if you appreciate sarcastic, witty humor and original characters.
