Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014)Directed by Ridley Scott
Written by Adam Cooper, Bill Collage, Jeffrey Caine, Steven Zaillian Starring Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, John Turturro, Aaron Paul, Ben Kingsley, Sigourney Weaver, Ben Mendelsohn, Maria Valverde Based on the biblical story |
This film was much more entertaining than I was led to believe. Critics panned this film across the board, but I found it to be a dramatic and exciting tale of humanity. Ridley Scott successfully adapted one of the most well-known stories from the Bible and crafted a movie that I know deserves more praise than it will get.
Christian Bale was excellent as Moses, but it was Joel Edgerton's unbelievable performance as Ramses that stole this film. Edgerton was barely recognizable and played a villain with a shred of humanity, a rare trait that is very difficult to show. Exodus won me over with its solid performances that I know will be overlooked, but they definitely do not deserve to be. I hope this film gets the praise it deserves, as it is quite entertaining. |
