This film was a treat for every Dragon Ball fan in the world. Not only was it a great continuation of Akira Toriyama's new story direction, but it brought back the manga's most charismatic and arguably beloved villain, the evil lord Frieza. With Toriyama in the process of bringing the iconic manga back to television with Dragon Ball Super, this fan-targeted film served as a fantastic way to let everyone know that the manga was on its way to making a big resurgence. As far as plot and characters go, Resurrection 'F' is one of the best movies that DBZ has had in its many years. Any fan will definitely find tons of things to enjoy here.

The introduction of Beerus and Whis in the Battle of Gods movie changed the DBZ game for good, and those changes are not forgotten here. The two still play a big role in the way events play out with Frieza's resurrection. Frieza himself is portrayed just as we remember him, only this time he's a great deal stronger. The dialogue is smart and actually sounds like the way people talk, which I felt has always been an issue with this series. I thought the animation was spectacular and the fight scenes were a great hybrid of new and old styles. I did think that the ending was anticlimactic and I was disappointed that Vegeta didn't get to show up Frieza. Still, I guess it wouldn't be DBZ if Goku didn't have the final word.

It's always tough to resurrect an old favorite after so many years, especially with such a rabid fanbase. Remarkably, Toriyama pulled it off and made a solid feature that celebrates everything DBZ has always been about. Epic fights, epic music, and epic characters. It doesn't get much better than that. Speaking as a longtime fan, I highly enjoyed this one and can't wait to see what Toriyama has in store for us next time.
