With this film, Jude Law proved how big his acting chops truly are. Dom Hemingway is a crude, crass, and highly entertaining film that got panned almost across the board by critics and deserved almost none of it. While the film does go off on several tangents, the overall spirit of the film remains intact.
With Law delivering a powerhouse performance that will certainly not be forgotten in the future and Richard E. Grant playing his delightfully quirky partner Dickie, Dom Hemingway is a nonstop rocket ride to a world dominated by one man and his enormous metaphorical balls. And that man is Dom f**king Hemingway. |
Dom Hemingway was crude, crass, vulgar, and highly over the top. But I loved every second of it. This was one of the most entertaining films I've seen that was entirely anchored by Jude Law's powerhouse performance.
The film had a simple story that was really just about the character of Dom Hemingway shortly after his release from prison. There were several, stellar scenes that really showcased who this man is and what he prioritizes in life. While the film would occasionally go off on some tangents that didn't always work, the theme of the movie was always there. Jude Law is the main reason to watch this film. He perfectly embodies the character and gives the best performance of his entire career. He takes you by the balls immediately and doesn't let go the entire ride. He is Dom f**cking Hemingway. Richard E. Grant is also great as his partner Dickie, delivering some of the funnier moments in the film. This was a great film featuring a powerhouse performance from Jude Law. You'll remember this man's name by the time it's over. In case you forgot, it's Dom Hemingway. |
