I love this movie. The jokes are hilarious, the plot is touching, and Morgan Freeman is the perfect God. After all, he already sounds like him. To me, this is Jim Carrey's last really good comedy movie before his slump began.
It's difficult to do a film involving God without offending the majority and Bruce Almighty is the exception. It treats religion not as a farce but as a tool to use to help people in need. The overall message of this film is to work to make the miracle happen yourself and in this respect, the film succeeds. Apart from the heartwarming message, the film is quite hilarious. All of Bruce's almighty gags are laugh-out-loud funny, particularly the scene where he channels Clint Eastwood and whips out a .44 Magnum. I always enjoy watching this film and I find something new to like about it everytime. |
