Bereavement (2010)Written and Directed by Stevan Mena
Starring Michael Biehn, Alexandra Daddario, Brett Rickaby, Nolan Gerard Funk, Spencer List, John Savage Prequel to 2003's Malevolence |
A movie that does a good job of showing how the killer from the first film, Martin Bristol, becomes a crazy psychotic murderer who can't feel pain. Due to the higher budget, the film also looked a little nicer than the original. The cast was excellent in this one. Genre favorite Michael Biehn was good as usual. Alexandra Daddario was good in her role, serving as more than just eye candy.
The standout was Brett Rickaby as the psycho who kidnaps the boy, perfectly portraying a crazy person. The only downside is that since this is a prequel, the ending is somewhat predictably. Besides that, this is a solid movie that smartly builds upon the mythology of the original. |
