Battle Royale is one of those films that is both obviously fictional but seems like it could actually happen some day. It's a brutal display of power that you can't look away from. The film itself is very well made and well acted. I was impressed with the overall feel of the movie. The music treated it like an epic in the beginning, and the end music was almost romantic. Overall, I enjoyed it and it comes recommended.

A brutal and highly entreating film where a group of schoolchildren are forced to fight each other to the death until there is only one left standing. This is not only a great film, but an excellent way to introduce someone to the world of foreign cinema.
The film tells a simple, effective story and features good performances. The film also has a nice element of dark humor in it. It also fully embraces its R rating, never shying away from the violence and gore the kids inflict on each other. An excellent film and good starting off point for newcomers entering the world of foreign cinema. |
