This film is one of the most iconic horror films ever made. Freddy Krueger is a great terrifying monster that will live on forever and this movie is the first time we get to see him. A Nightmare on Elm Street is a solid horror flick that is still as terrifying today as it was in 1984. Wes Craven is the undisputed king of 80's horror and this movie is his masterpiece.
We get to see a young, not-quite-yet-talented Johnny Depp face off against Robert Englund's iconic performance that will resonate throughout the ages as the most charismatic and charming movie monster ever. |
Wes Craven is a master of the horror genre and this film stands as his crowning jewel. The story, for a horror film, is actually extremely well done that both terrifies and is a little smart. The film handles the theme of what happens in our dreams smartly. The cast also does a great job for the most part. Heather Langenkamp plays Nancy, the lead who is trying to figure out what is happening; creating one of the more iconic female characters in horror history.
Johnny Depp does a pretty good job in his first major movie role. The real star of the film, though, is Freddy Krueger. Robert Englund did a phenomenal job in the role; making the character both terrifying and iconic to this day. Wes Craven once again proves why he is one of the best in the horror genre; giving us a smart film with interesting characters and one hell of a villain. |
