I thought this sequel wasn't bad. It had the same spirit of the first, but managed to be its own movie. The battle scenes were just as cool the second time around and Eva Green's performance as the evil, psychotic Artemisia was excellent. While the film did end abruptly, it made up for it with the freakin' awesome orchestral version of "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath that played during the credits.

That being said, the film really doesn't bring anything new to the table and ends up being just a rehash of the first film. Sullivan Stapleton did not have the same level of screen presence that Gerard Butler brought to the role in the first 300 and because of him, the film faltered greatly. If you enjoyed the first film, you will most likely enjoy this one too.

A sequel that, while not as good as the first one, is still a badass movie. Even with different directors, the spirit and style of the original film is still very much intact. Sullivan Stapleton did a decent job as the lead, but he admittedly lacked a lot of the charisma of Gerard Butler. I also found his character a little bland.

Eva Green, on the other hand, was a ton of fun to watch. She stole the show from everyone and chewed up every scene she was in. The violence was also quite glorious, definitely embracing their R-rating. Even though this film wasn't as good as the first one, I still had a few time with it and there were ton of badass moments. Bring on a third film.
